What this result includes
The calculator above works out one sale from the amounts entered. Read the result against the expenses included, not your bank balance.
Included
Item cost, fees, packaging and your shipping costs
Outside this calculation
General expenses, taxes and transfers between accounts
If the buyer paid shipping directly, do not subtract it again as your expense.
When everything is at hand
What should you include for an accurate result?
Start with a spreadsheet. Move your catalogue when ready.Price after discount
Enter the price agreed with the buyer, not the original listing price. Do not add a deposit on top: it is already part of that amount.
Only seller-paid costs
Leave shipping at zero when the buyer pays the carrier directly. Enter the fee as an amount, not a percentage. Count the item’s purchase cost once in cost of goods.
How to read the result
Zero means the price covers only the costs entered; a negative value means costs exceed the price. For a personal item with zero cost, the result shows money recovered after expenses, not profit on its original purchase.
Questions and answers
Tracking details: calculations
The buyer pays for delivery. What should I enter?
Enter zero if you did not pay for delivery. The calculator only deducts the seller’s expenses.
Why does the result differ from my bank balance?
Stock may have been purchased earlier, payments received in instalments and refunds sent later. Kram does not maintain a separate cash ledger.
Scope of this example
