Track children’s item sales: a bundle in one parcel
Children grow. Their things find new stories.
A T-shirt, a sweatshirt, some pants: each has its own size and buyer. Keep track of what has left, what needs packing and what has returned and is available again.

One parcel. Three items. Only one came back.
The trousers came back. The other items stayed sold.
A partial return should not cancel the whole order. Mark the specific item that physically came back.
Check the refund and any shipping reimbursement separately. Changing the recorded quantity does not make a bank transfer.
When everything is at hand
How do you organise children’s clothes for sale?
Two items. One buyer. One parcel.Size, condition and a clear name
Sort items by size, check their condition and prepare listing photos. Record a name with size, quantity and important details to distinguish similar items.
A bundle for one buyer
If items can sell separately, keep separate product records and combine them in the sale. You can send one parcel, count packaging once and return only the relevant item.
What the result means for personal items
Decide whether you want to see recovered money after current expenses or a result including the original cost. Zero cost works for the first view, but does not show profit on the original purchase.
Questions and answers
Tracking details: children’s item returns
What cost should I enter for my own belongings?
You can enter zero if you want to track money recovered from selling. The result then does not represent profit relative to the original purchase.
How does a return affect reports?
A return adjusts the completed sale and may change a past reporting period. Send the buyer’s refund separately and review any expenses actually reimbursed.
Scope of this example
For personal items, zero cost means the report shows proceeds recovered after expenses, not profit on the original purchase. Issue bank refunds separately; there is no cash-flow journal.
